Tibetan Uprising

BBC obtained this footage from Chinese security forces, showing how a peaceful protest by Tibetan monks may have sparked the ensuing violence in Tibet.

The report shows how the Chinese media has been covering the protests in Tibet as well as Nepali police beating up Tibetan protesters. 

Anti-government protests in Tibet have spread to Gansu and neighbouring provinces with large Tibetan populations. Tania Branigan reports from Xiahe on the tense stand-off between monks, lay people and security forces. Video aired on March 16, 2008. Courtesy of the Guardian.
