Tibetan People's Uprising and the future of Tibetan Freedom StruggleThe Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement organized a panel discussion on the “Tibetan People’s Uprising and the future of Tibetan Freedom Struggle” at the staff mess hall at Ganchen Kyishong. This is an initiative by the organizers to pioneer more open discussion and debate on the Tibetan Freedom Movement amongst the general public in all Tibetan community.

Panellists for the discussion today were Karma Choemphel, Chairman of the Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputy (ATPD); Sonam Topgyal, former Kalon Tripa; Bawa Kalsang Gyaltsen, Member of ATPD; Narkyi Ngawang Dhondup, former Govt. staff (before 1959) and Lukar Jam, a Tibet researcher. Tashi Wangchuk,senior reporter for Radio Voice of Tibet and President of The Association of Tibetan Journalists chaired the discussion.

“This kind of discussion is to bring awareness amongst the Tibetan community and to provide the Tibetan people in general a platform to voice their opinion about the movement and to help perceive a clearer vision of the struggle” said Chime Youngdrung, President of National Democratic Party of Tibet. “This will be the beginning of series of discussions and debates and we encourage local NGOs to take the initiative to organize such debates in their communities.”

Representatives from the ATPD, Monastaries, Heads of different institutions and welfare associations attended the discussion. Also present at the discussion were general public who are the key inspiration of such discussions.
