[Dharamshala]: Tibetans and supporters from all around Dharamshala gathered this morning for speeches and prayers before marching around the hilltop town of McLoed Ganj. Slogans such as, “One world, One Dream, Free Tibet,” “Tibet for Tibetans,” “Free Press in Tibet” and “Release Political Prisoners” were heard throughout the town.
Later, the protesters staged a sit-in at Mcleod Ganj and prayers were offered to Tibetans who were killed and to those who continue to suffer under the Chinese government when Beijing on the other hand is trying to show the world that Tibetans are happy under their Regime. After the prayers, the protesters observed silence for an hour to pay respect to all the brave souls who were killed for speaking out for their rights. This was followed by a candle light vigil in the evening participated by around 1000 Tibetans and supporters.
Today marks the fifth month since March 10th, Tibetan Uprising, and with the Olympics in China currently underway, Tibetans intend to to use this critical moment to further their voices.
