The 19 Tibetan marchers detained since May 22nd and 23rd have been released. March coordinator Lobsang Yeshi and core marcher Tenzin Tsundue were released last night and briefly taken to a local hospital. They had staged a hunger strike since they were first arrested on May 22nd and required medical care, but were subsequently dropped at the campsite. The other 17 marchers, who were refusing food, were taken back to the campsite early this morning.

The marchers are at the same campsite in Banspatan, Uttarakhand State.

I live in Boston, USA and was in Uttarkhand for a 3-day visit in the mountains last week. On the morning of May 22, driving back from Chaukori to Almora - somewhere between Sheraghat and Dhaulchinna - I came upon the spectacular sight of a large number of Tibetan marchers resting on the side of the winding road.

I had heard about the march and my inner self somehow knew that I was going to see them. I stopped, got out of the car and said namaste and let a few of the monks know just how much support they have from people in the U.S. I was a little overwhelmed by the event and now wish I could’ve helped out the marchers in their hard march ahead. But I hope my words of support and encouragement added a little bit to the incredible positive energy that I felt in them as I passed through. I did take a few pictures which I will post somewhere and provide a link here.

I cry when I recall the memory of this encounter or look at the pictures now.

I wish you peace and good luck from the bottom of my heart. Hard times are ahead - but the faces that i saw on the 22nd clearly conveyed that you will prevail. May we all succeed in the fundamental plight for Peace.
