“As an Indian and having our own history of foreign invasion I feel inclined to support the Tibetan people in their struggle for a Free Tibet. What we have been witnessing for many years and especially this past one month, it’s a shame that such brutality still exist in a much civilized world” says Shibayan Raha, Grassroots Coordinator, Students for a Free Tibet - India. “I appeal to all Freedom loving Indians to show up at
China’s latest deadly attack on Tibetans came in in Tonkor Township (Kardze County), in southern Tibet on April 3rd after Chinese authorities detained two monks for possessing photos of the Dalai Lama. Following a raid by over 3,000 armed police at Tonkor monastery, the police opened fire on the crowd of over 700 people - nearly half of whom were monks - gathered to protest the arrests. All Tibetan areas remain closed off to independent media, but eyewitness reports from all across Tibet describe severe beatings, suicide attempts by monks locked inside their monasteries, house-to-house searches and, in one instance, a large group of Tibetan being boarded onto a train to an unknown destination at Lhasa’s new railway station and yesterday 15 monks protested in front of the state managed media tour in Labrang and called for Freedom in Tibet and Return of The Dalai Lama.
*20 Tibetans and Indian supporters were detained by the Indian police in New Delhi on Monday, April 7, 2008 for holding a peaceful candle light Vigil at India Gate.

Tibet is about half the size of Europe with a population less than Wales. Since the 13th Century Tibet has been officially recognised and listed as being part of the various Chinese dynasties. Tibetan Lamaism is a form of Buddhism intermingled with Bon – the indingeious religion of Tibet that was brutally suppressed by Lamaism.
The Racist, criminal and barbaric treatment of China during the Opium wars led to a 60% decrease of Chinas population. Britain capitalised on this weakness in 1904 by seizing a large area of Tibet in 1904. Their forts and canons are still there today for everybody to see. Some of that area is now under Indian Control whilst the rest fell under the administrative control of the Dahlia Lama as the Chinese were too pre-occupied in dealing with the people’s revolution whilst defending itself against the superior British machine guns. It was in 1950 that China reasserted its presence in Tibet by returning troops to their old former garrisons. Conflict between those garrisons and the monasteries led to the eventual expulsion of the dahlia lama in 1959. The true horrors of the dahlia lama’s brutal regime were exposed. Their class system was broken up and for the first time in 40 years 95 % of its population were treated as human beings. Research of that class system will show the classes of Lamaism are:-
1. The Living Buddha , upper senior class monks and the aristocrats who accounted for 1% of the population and yet owned 100% of all land
2. 4% the officials and merchants who were allowed certain privileges such as the right to earn a wage.
3. 95% of the population were Serfs and slaves treated as beasts of burden. They were not entitled to a wage or a voice. Should the slaves protest they were tortured by having their eyes removed?
It is very sad that western powers continue to discredit and embarrass China in the year of the 2008 Olympics. China has made enormous efforts to promote peace and harmony through the Olympics however the isolationist attitudes of the PRC have not helped. For them the affairs of Tibet and its memories are simply too painful for them to discuss. A fact seized upon by the dahlia lama who with the support and funds of the CIA has masterminded one of the worst racist and xenophobic propaganda campaigns since Hitler during the 1920’s. A campaign that has duped and hoodwinked the gullible Hollywood stars or the western journalists with insufficient time to research the past properly. Whatever the misgivings of its current regime nothing compares to the brutal feudalism of the dahlia lama and if you believe in the suppression of all by a supreme master class, if you believe in the emancipation of women’s rights, if you believe brutal fascism then by all means support the free Tibet campaign. If your humanity tells you otherwise then let the truth free and end your support to a mis-informed and dangerous campaign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TopPeqpTX5w
I am from Plymouth, Devon. I am not Chinese but I do travel and have trade connections throughout Tibet. I know the region and I know its people. I know that 100 innocent civilians were murdered by separatists on March 14th 2008 and the BBC’s biased reporting served them no justice. I am neither a political agitator nor a member of the communist or any other political party. It would be in my commercial interests to see Tibet separate from China however my own basic belief in human rights and my knowledge of the region and its history suggest that to do so would be to strip away all human rights from 95% of its population.
Please do not lose heart! Please keep the pressure on the Chinese government.
