Local Chinese authorities have reportedly expelled a large number of monks from Chokri Monastery and arrested some nuns of Nanggong (Tib translit: nganga sgong) Nunnery, in Drango County (Ch: Luhuo xian), Kardze TAP, Sichuan Province. There are also reports of disappearances of many lay people from the area.
Under the pretext of a meeting with the authorities, two former abbots of Chokri Monastery, Geshe Namgyal Tsering and Geshe Sonam Gyurmey, were detained in the County Public Security Bureau (PSB) Detention Centre.
In an apparent measure to bring Tibetans in the county under control, the authorities called for a meeting in neighboring Getse Township, during which the residents were ordered to denounce and criticize the Dalai Lama and the “separatist” forces. An elderly woman, Ama Tsanglo, steadfastedly refused to abide by the order and on the contrary called for the fast “return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet”. The Township Party Secretary attacked the woman, beating her brutally, while she shouted, “I will never denounce the Dalai Lama. Even if you kill me today I won’t have any regrets.” The woman’s son emerged from the crowd and in turn began beating the Party Secretary. At the time of TCHRD’s release on these incidents, both the Party Secretary and Tsanglo had been hospitalized. The whereabouts of the son is still unknown.
The first group of foreign journalists allowed in Tibet since the uprising, arrived in Lhasa today, escorted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Support the Dalai Lama and autonomy for Tibet !!!
Except for India, chances are if you buy something it was probably made in China.
There is a great inequality in the world of have’s and have not and the the government of China cares nothing for the human condition in Tibet, the environment of top of the world, its own country, and much less for the World we live in. They have become obsessed with power and lost in their self image. There would be greater equality in the world if developing countries could get some of the jobs that went to China.
Optimism and patience is a virtue the Tibetans have practiced for several generations…it has run out.
All free thinking idealist who can write in the world please do something…it will make your heart warm.
Please practice your freedom of speech by sending emails to large corporations who do business with china.
Dear Yah00 Ceo,
Did you see the news in Tibet!!! Why have you allowed so much anguish into the world by doing business with that ’serpent of suffering’ China.
Will you please wake up from your amnesia!!!
You are a very clever businessman, but if you allow the Chinese nationalist government to enslave the Tibetans, by your actions you are not the wise son i raised and i’m sure unwillingly are causing more suffering.
I must insist that you clean the blood from your hands and ask China to respect the environment and the human rights of Tibetans or you will share your talents with some other country.
Son! if compassion is the heart beat of our inherent human nature that we share, then to allow the human rights of Tibetans to simmer into political discussion is against our true aspiration for liberation and information for all !!!
