Since many of the Marchers did not have proper walking shoes, this morning was spent buying shoes and other necessary items in Chandigarh.

Around 5:30pm, the Marchers gathered together to walk the 5 kilometers from the Gurdwara to Sector 17 of Chandigarh where a candle light vigil was held. This walk was the first time the first group of Core Marchers and the second group of Core Marchers walked together. They walked in single file forming an impressively long line.

Several speakers attended the vigil to speak about the Tibetan situation, educating onlookers and local Indians who gathered in the main market place of Sector 17. Mr. Ravinder Singh Bassi, President of All India Sikh Student Federation, expressed his solidarity for the Tibetan cause and added that everything is possible with determination and hard work. Mr. Chemi Youngdrung, President of National Democratic Party of Tibet, also addressed the crowd and thanked all the Indians for their continued support over the past decades. Many local Indians donated money for the march.

The marchers were very excited to hear the news of the release of Tenzin Tsundue, Tenzin Choeying and Lobsang Yeshi, Organizing Committee Members of the March. They are all looking forward to the three joining the march again soon.

The Organizing Committee members would like to express their gratitude to the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress for their presence and support.

Keep up the good work. The whole world is watching your noble cause. You are widely admired in the USA. I think we should boycott the Olympics as well as Olympic sponsors like Coca Cola, etc. BOD GYALO!
